Villa
Vacationing - The Basics
by Janet & Michael Gesner
But
FIRST - What's Wrong With Staying at a Hotel?
(rather than staying at a Villa)
Been
there, done that! But very few people have actually taken a Villa
Vacation, much less a Nude Villa Vacation, so it might be difficult
for the uninitiated to imagine the advantages of a Villa, versus a Hotel
stay. But let's pose a question. Where is that you are the most comfortable?
At home, of course! Wouldn’t it be great if you could be this at ease
while on vacation? You can! But only if you’re staying at a home-away-from-home,
a private Villa! And once you’ve gone on a Nude Villa Vacation, you'll
may never want to stay at a hotel again. But you’ll never know for sure
and you’ll never be able to say “Been there, done that” until you
stop settling for second best! So, just when are you going to treat yourself
to the vacation you truly deserve? Will it be now or will it be never?
The choice is yours.
Yes,
Villa Vacations are difficult to plan.
The
best things in life sometimes require a bit of effort! Yes, putting together
a Villa Vacation is challenging because the kind of accommodations we
seek and the dates we select are so specific. We don’t want to settle
for “second rate” lodging (hotel, condo, etc) and neither should you.
The drawback to the kind of escape we desire is that you need to plan
at least one year ahead of time. If you don’t allow enough time, you’ll
find that the inventory of available Villas will be depleted or even non-existent.
It stands to reason, the better the planning, the better the accommodations
and airfare as well as the best value for every dollar spent.
What
is a "Villa"?
To
some people "Villas" are simply vacation homes. Broadly defined,
several different kinds of accommodations will fall within the definition,
including Condos/Time-Shares, Hotel Suites, Cottages, Private Residences
and Estates.
The
Tri State Sun Club definition of a "Villa"
is a detached home on its own Private Lot
and not part of a hotel compound.
But with any destination,
few homes, mansions, or estates (however you choose to define a Villa)
will pass the Tri State Sun Club checklist.
If there are 100 Villas to select from, less than ten will meet our standards.
Does it sound like we are hard
to please? WE ARE! In general,
the larger the Villa, the nicer the Villa!
Beauty of the grounds and amenities are important to us as well as location
and privacy. Price also plays a role because if one Villa costs $500 (or
even $1,000!) more per couple than another, we question: Is it worth it?
Because sometimes it is and sometimes it isnt. Also of concern is
the Villa Staff and their comfort zone with sunbathing sans clothing
at the Villa. As this is a key point, we always inform the management
of this fact beforehand. If they have a problem with nudity, we go elsewhere
- and they lose a significant rental. Yes, Nude Villa Vacations are special,
because Janet and I want - and you deserve - the best.
Questions
To Consider When Choosing a Villa
Is
the Villa Property Private?
Necessary!
Does the Villa have a minimum of 4 or 5 Bedrooms
with baths ensuite?
A 3 Bedroom/3 Bath Villa is sufficient if you only have 3 couples.
Is the Villa Nice Enough?
Many things will determine how "nice" a Villa is to you:
Design, Amenities, Furnishings, Landscaping, Location, View and More.
Will
Nudity be a Problem at the Villa?
Seldom is Nudity a problem. Generally, skinny-dipping and tanning in
the buff will be old hat to the Villa Staff. But, you should never assume
this is the case.
We always inform the Villa Management of this key requirement.
We don't need surprises and neither do they.
Is
the Location Ideal for things you want to see and do?
Depending on your Vacation Destination, this can be of the utmost importance.
On a small island (St. Martin, for example), this is not an issue.
But on a larger island (Jamaica) or country, would you be willing to drive
two, three or four hours (one-way!) to get to things you want to
see and do?
Does the Villa offer a Balance of Quality versus
Price?
Only you can determine if a particular Villa "is worth the cost."
Once you've established what is important to you and and the approximate
price range that fits your travel budget, you can then start shopping
to see what is available. Keep in mind that if your group (assuming 3
Couples) is sharing the cost, a Villa costing $900 more than another is
only $300 each. Maybe it's worth it - and maybe it's not! We look at it
this way: If a superior property is
only marginally better, you could use the money saved to
pay for a rental vehicle. Or dining out! Extravagance is wonderful until
you see the price tag! Traveling Tri State Sun Club Style is more than
just traveling First-Class -
it's also about getting your money's worth at the same time!
This is as important to us as it is to you.
How
to Put Together a Villa Vacation on your own
(1)
Get at least 3 Couples (counting yourself) who would like to travel together.
(2)
Appoint a Group Leader to Take Charge!
(3)
Plan Your Trip at least ONE YEAR - preferably 18
MONTHS AHEAD!!
(4)
Agree on the EXACT Dates for the Trip.
Very important! A second choice on dates is recommended and try
to be flexible, if at all possible. Also consider a minimum of 9 days
or more - the longer the flight, the longer the vacation. Exact dates
may need to be flexible, in order to secure a particular Villa you
have in mind and to obtain less expensive airline tickets. Example: to
secure the best airfare for a nine day trip to the Caribbean, you might
leave on a Tuesday and return on a Thursday. Additionally, you might find
that a Villa you are interested in is only available for a time-frame
other than Saturday to Saturday. Sometimes a particular property might
be open for 11 days and rentable at a discount if you reserve the whole
slot.
(5)
Agree on the Destination.
(6)
Set the Price for the Trip.
Know up front what the maximum each couple is willing to spend, IN
TOTAL, for the ENTIRE vacation. If you don't know what the
number is, you're already in trouble and probably wasting your time.
(7) Research
The Trip including Travel Itinerary.
All travelers need
to do their own research, passing their findings and recommendations on
to the Group Leader. Use a reputable Villa Rental Specialist. Other costs
that need to be computed include rental vehicle, food and drink, dining
out, tours, taxes, tips, etc.
(8)
Be prepared to pay for your share of the trip immediately.
A suggestion would be to have a $1,000 Deposit per couple already in place,
before planning the trip. A special checking account might be the best
way to hold and disperse the travel funds.

Commonly
Asked Questions about Nude Villa Vacationing
How
do you (Tri State Sun Club) decide on a Destination and Travel Dates?
With your
help! Quite often, a simple phone call is all that is needed to
get the ball rolling on the trip that YOU would like to take with
us. Do you have a destination in mind? Pick up the telephone, dial 908-689-4911
and let us know about it! Also, be prepared to tell us what dates would
work for you. Exact dates would be great, an approximate time frame
("March 2003") is
the next best thing. More than one of our great trips started with a recommendation
by one of our travelers as outlined here.
I
have a group interested in a Villa Vacation but we don't want to go through
all the hassle of organizing it ourselves. Would you put the package together
for us and act as our tour guides?
Possibly. Call 908-689-4911 for details.
Is
Smoking permitted on Tri State Sun Club Villa Vacations?
No. The only way around this is to put together your own Villa Vacation.
Or have us do it for you.
How
long will it take for me to "fit in"?
Sooner than you think! An often overlooked plus about Nude Villa
Vacationing are the people you will meet. A friendlier group of folks
is not to be found anywhere. You’ll find that, after only a few minutes,
you'll be on your way to making life-long friendships. It’s been said
that people are one of the main ingredients that make our vacations so
special and we agree. We also encourage future travelers to meet us first.
My
wife and I are NOT into alternative lifestyles. Is "swinging"
something we might encounter on a Tri State Sun Club Nude Villa Vacation?
NO!
I
am worried that I will have too much fun and that every vacation I take
afterwards will fail to compare to the Tri State Sun Club Nude Villa Experience.
If this is so, how on earth will I be able to cope?
You
should be concerned! By an overwhelming majority, nude
travelers agree that their TSSC Nude Villa Vacation was the best vacation
they have ever taken. But, how do they deal with the always distinct
memory when they later have to settle for a “second best” vacation alternative?
Here are some suggestions: take along a recorded tape with a repeating
message such as “This is the best vacation I have
ever taken”, “My soul is at peace, there are no memories as I only live
in the present”, or “The Tri State Sun Club Nude Villa Vacation I thought
I took couldn’t have been real, I am only dreaming.” The only other idea
that has yet to be tried is a support group called NVVA (Nude Villa Vacationers
Anonymous). Of course, one might question
why you should fight reality in the first place. Why not just go on another
Nude Villa Vacation! Many Tri State Sun Club Vacationers do just that!
